The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan Rashid Meredov and Murat Nurtleu held talks in Ashgabat. As a result of the negotiations, a Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2026 was signed. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the meeting the diplomats discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian issues. The parties noted that relations between the two countries have reached a new level of strategic partnership. They emphasized the importance of contacts at the highest level to enhance interaction. In this regard, special attention is paid to the implementation of agreements reached during the visits of the presidents of the two countries in 2021 and 2022. The ministers also highly appreciated the level of cooperation in the multilateral format and agreed to strengthen interaction within the framework of inter-parliamentary friendship groups, as well as on the international and regional agenda. In the trade and economic sphere, Rashid Meredov and Murat Nurtleu agreed to take measures to increase trade turnover, including by intensifying the activities of working groups and holding business meetings. They also outlined priority areas of cooperation in the fuel and energy complex, oil and gas and chemical industries, textile industry, agriculture, ecology and environmental protection, rational use of water resources, transport and logistics, communications and telecommunications. In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the parties agreed on the further development of cooperation in the fields of education, science, media and cultural exchanges. They also discussed holding joint events dedicated to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi.
