A new record was set by 92 year-s old Spaniard Alfredo Aliaga, who crossed the Grand Canyon on foot from rim to rim. He walked 24 miles (38,6 kilometers) and was recognized as the oldest person ever to complete such a journey. The duration of the hike, in which the record holder was accompanied by his daughter, son-in-law and a couple of volunteer witnesses, was more than 21 hours. Mail.ru talks about this with a link to UPI. Aliaga, who has hiked the Grand Canyon several times before, broke the previous record held by John Jepkema, who was 91 years and 152 days old when he completed his trek in March 2023. At the finish line, the record holder was greeted by a crowd of 100 fans. Touched, Alfredo Aliaga said he was delighted to receive so much love, care and support and, regardless of whether his achievement is included in the Guinness Book of Records, he plans to hike the Grand Canyon again next year. The source quotes Alfredo: “You can't say, 'I'm too old to do anything”.
