Toyota will begin producing electric vehicles with a built-in manual transmission in 2026, writes the Habr portal. Electric vehicles will have a built-in device that includes a gear shift lever and clutch pedal, as well as devices that simulate a tachometer and “idle speed”. If, when starting from a stop, the speed is below idle speed when the “clutch” is depressed, the car’s inverter will instantly set the electric motor torque to zero. Drivers of such electric vehicles will be asked to disable the manual transmission mode during normal driving.
