Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived on an official visit to Azerbaijan. Ilham Aliyev personally met him at the international airport in Nakhchivan, informs “MIR 24”. Within the framework of the visit, Erdogan and Aliyev took part in the foundation laying ceremony for the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline. This project will permit the supply of natural gas from Türkiye to Nakhchivan, as well as to other regions of Azerbaijan. The parties noted that the gas pipeline will contribute to the energy security of the region and Europe. In addition, Erdogan and Aliyev signed a number of joint documents, including a protocol of intent on the Kars-Nakhchivan railway project, a cooperation agreement on the construction of residential buildings, a school, a kindergarten and a cultural center in the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras. Earlier, in June, Aliyev and Erdogan discussed trade and economic cooperation in Baku. This year, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Türkiye has approached six billion dollars.
