Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev in the final match of the US Open, reports TASS. The match between the tennis players lasted 3 hours 17 minutes and ended with a score of 6:3, 7:6 (7:5), 6:3 in favor of Djokovic. Novak won the US Open for the fourth time, having previously won the tournament in 2011, 2015 and 2018. The Serbian won his 24th Grand Slam tournament, equaling Australian Margaret Court's record. Medvedev played in the fifth Grand Slam final and set a record for this indicator among Russian tennis players. Previously, the record holder among Russians for the number of finals at Grand Slam tournaments was Marat Safin (4). US Open matches are played on “hard” surfaces. The prize fund for this year's tournament was 65 million USD. Djokovic will reportedly receive 2000 ranking points and 3 million USD in prize money for winning the tournament. Danila Medvedev, in turn, will receive 1200 rating points and 1,5 million USD in prize money.
